Eric Gabrielson, of Oldfield Road, was killed around 7 p.m., Friday, May 3, in the area of Daniels Farm Road during a two-vehicle crash that ended with the pickup truck hitting the side of a home, said Trumbull Police Lt. Brian Weir.

According to Weir, the pick-up truck and a sedan collided, and the pick-up truck eventually came in contact with a nearby residence. The only occupant of the pick-up truck, Gabrielson, was entrapped inside of the vehicle, and bystanders approached to assist him prior to Trumbull Police arrival.

Trumbull Police rendered medical aid to Gabrielson and secured the scene. Trumbull Center and Nichols Fire departments arrived to extricate Gabrielson from the pick-up truck, he said.

Trumbull EMS also arrived on scene to treat and eventually transported Gabrielson to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he later died, Weir said.

The only occupant of the sedan suffered minor injuries and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation.

The Daniels Farm Road residence that was struck sustained minor damage, and the residents were not home at the time of the accident, Weir said.

The Trumbull and Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Divisions are currently investigating the crash. As of this time, the cause of the accident is unknown, but officers are working to determine whether Gabrielson’s medical condition may have played a role in the accident.

Gabrielson, a longtime Trumbull resident, was born in Norwalk on April 23, 1965, to the late Peter and Elaine Belmont Gabrielson. He graduated from Trumbull High School and went on to start his own business in pool installation, repairs, and maintenance, before going to work at Raypak as a District Sales Manager for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife Lynda; children, Matthew Eric Gabrielson and Jillian and Robin Wyckoff; two brothers, Scott and Peter Gabrielson; and three nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark Gabrielson.

Friends may greet the family at a memorial gathering on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
